Stationary Battery Systems

Reliable electronic components for future‑proof energy storage across all applications

Energy Storage Sytems BESS in a hall

Sector Coupling – a path to the All-Electric Society

Sector coupling describes the growing integration of energy, mobility and industry. Renewable energy increasingly replaces fossil fuels. Electricity becomes the key driver of decarbonization. At the same time, power demand rises significantly, driven by charging infrastructure, electrified buildings and new industrial applications. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are essential to effectively couple the gap between energy supply and demand.

Higher Demand, Higher Dynamics

As electrification progresses, load profiles change significantly. E‑mobility increases nighttime demand, heating introduces stronger seasonal fluctuations, and industry adds additional local peaks. To reliably serve these new patterns, renewable energy—especially wind and photovoltaics—must be expanded substantially. This increases system volatility, while at the same time creating new flexibility opportunities such as dynamic charging, controllable heat pumps, industrial load shifting and battery storage.

More Complex Grids – Higher Protection Requirements

An increasing number of decentralized generators and consumers is leading to more complex energy flows and higher grid loads. Variable tariffs, digital control systems, and closer integration of electricity and gas infrastructures are becoming essential to maintain system stability.
At the same time, the demand for reliable protection solutions is rising: heat pumps, fast‑charging systems, battery storage, power electronics and power‑to‑X applications generate high currents, rapid load changes and fault energies that go far beyond traditional electrical environments.

HVHC Fuses from SCHURTER. Essential for Modern Energy Storage Systems

SCHURTER HVHC fuses are engineered precisely for these demanding conditions. They disconnect quickly, safely and in a controlled manner, ensuring reliable power protection, preventing consequential damage and supporting decarbonization in an energy system that is becoming increasingly electrified.
