The world's first appliance connectors made of bio-based plastic. Increase sustainability and reduce CO₂.
The consequences of climate change are increasingly visible and tangible. Awareness and the urgent need for sustainable action have grown. With its Green Line, SCHURTER now offers more sustainable and environmentally friendly electronic components. And all in the usual SCHURTER quality.
We are expanding our Green Line connectors with additional products. Companies can use these products to increase the sustainability of their overall products and reduce their impact on the environment. And all with the same product properties and without having to make any changes.
Expanded Product Range:
Now includes the 4797 appliance outlet, 4798 and 6080 appliance inlets, and the 4782 rewireable connector.
Seamless Replacement:
1:1 replacements for existing connectors.
No redesigns or certifications are required again.
Environmentally Friendly:
Housings made from plant-based plastics with a neutral CO₂ footprint over their lifecycle.
Significantly reduces overall CO₂ emissions.
Lower Material Consumption:
Bio-based plastics are lighter (lower density), reducing material usage.

"Green Line" is a collection of SCHURTER quality products based on plant-based plastics. The Green Line is part of SCHURTER's sustainability strategy. SCHURTER's mission is to deliver high-quality products with significantly lower CO₂ emissions. Specifically, the goal is to reduce the CO₂ footprint of the portfolio by 50% by 2035. This will be achieved, among other things, with more sustainably produced products. A commissioned study by myclimate showed that the starting material causes the highest CO₂ emissions in the product cycle. SCHURTER is tackling this challenge with the new Green Line.
The device connectors of the SCHURTER Green Line are made of environmentally friendly bio-based plastic, which is produced from plant-based raw materials. SCHURTER has tested different variants in the laboratory, and the recyclable biological plastic made from castor beans has fully met the requirement for the material. The castor bean plant is convincing because no fertilization or artificial irrigation is required and the miracle plant - as the castor bean plant is also called - also grows in dry areas. Therefore, it does not compete with agriculture and does not require additional agricultural land like other biogenic plastics made from corn or sugar cane.
Bio-based plastic leads to a CO₂ reduction of up to 68% compared with the fossil plastic used previously.
This is due to the sustainable extraction and production of the plastic, which is less energy-intensive.
The plant-based plastic from castor beans is not biodegradable, but nevertheless its disposal is clearly more sustainable compared to fossil plastic. The castor bean plant absorbs CO₂ from the atmosphere during cultivation and binds it. In addition, the bioplastic can be recycled and reused.
