Water, dirt, dust, germs and moisture proof
Very often, electrical devices have to work reliably and safely for years under adverse conditions. Dirt, bacteria, dust and moisture can rarely be kept away. You therefore need here our protected IP products.
IP Protection
Dirt, bacteria, dust, and moisture can rarely be kept away. For example in food processing, medical technology, or similar industries. So you have to start at a different point. It is important to prevent dirt or moisture from penetrating into the housing while at the same time providing the best possible protection for persons operating the equipment. The degree of protection against ingress of dirt and moisture is indicated by the so-called IP degree of protection. This IP degree of protection according to IEC/ EN 60529 specifies the extent to which an electrical component or device can be exposed to adverse environmental influences without being damaged or presenting a safety risk to persons.
IP degree of protection
The abbreviation IP stands for "International Protection". In the English language area, however, it is preferably translated with "Ingress Protection". The IP degree of protection must be clearly distinguished from the electrical protection class. The IP degrees of protection define the degree of protection of the housing against contact, foreign bodies, and water. In contrast, the electrical protection classes describe measures to prevent hazardous voltages on parts of equipment that are not live during operation. The IP protection class - sometimes also called IP code - usually consists of two digits. The first digit stands for protection against the ingress of foreign bodies or in case of contact. The second digit indicates the protection against water.
Protection against dirt particles and moisture is becoming increasingly important. With the product type 6080 and the associated V-Lock power cable, SCHURTER is launching an IP54 device connection that also meets very high demands.
The newly developed SCHURTER 6080 is an IEC 60320 and IEC 60529 compatible appliance inlet. In combination with the dedicated power cord, an IP54 protection rating is achieved when plugged in. An IP54 connection provides excellent protection against dust particles and is splash-proof.
The waterproof appliance coupler set is rated IP67 when connected or IP69K unconnected, when used with the accessory covers. This appliance coupler is perfect for supplying power to medical equipment used in medical offices or hospitals and is ideally suited for portable devices with exposure to ingress of particles or liquids. The rated current is according to IEC 10 A @ 250 VAC, according to UL/CSA 15 A @ 250 VAC. The maximum operating temperature is +120 °C. Quick connect terminal options for the inlet:or solder.
The push/pull locking system of the connector set provides a strong reliable connection; it also features a cord retention system. The shape and color of the pull-out mechanism indicates the pull-out direction. A clear catch sound is heard upon the seated connection. The connector style is similar to the international standards of IEC and UL/CSA 60320, but is distinguished by a special arrangement of the contacts, so as not to interchange with conventional power cords. This ensures the maximum power applied, IP protection and the cord retention. The connector can be temporarily submerged in water and can be cleaned with high-pressure hot water cleaners.
The appliance couplers are available in black and white. The dual components can be ordered as complete sets. The inlet and connector are also available as individual components for separate inventorying. Accessory covers are available for both plug parts, providing a waterproof protection IP69K in an unplugged state. These protective covers also offer protection against pollutants, which can potentially contaminate the contacts.
With the FUS fuseholder, SCHURTER is building on its successful FUL series for
high-performance applications. It presents the first dust and water-proof fuseholder
with ingress degree of protection IP67 especially for rough applications.
The snap-in fuseholder series guarantees fast and tool-free assembly.
The carrier is available in both versions with slot and fingergrip and can accommodate
fuse sizes 5 x 20 mm or 6.3 x 32 mm.
SCHURTER is launching its new series of momentary and latching push button switches with capacitive touch sensor technology inside. With this, SCHURTER enters the latest technology trend in push button products while incorporating new features.
