Cruise ship "Stadt" Luzern

Ship ahoy!

Hans-Rudolf Schurter had to wait a full two years to celebrate his well-deserved retirement after more than 35 years of service to the company. On June 3, the time had come. The weather was magnificent on Lake Lucerne and almost 400 invited guests were there to celebrate.

The host, Hans-Rudolf Schurter, steered the company's fortunes for more than 35 years in various management positions, first as Commercial Director, then as CEO and finally as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SCHURTER Holding AG.

Almost 400 SCHURTER employees followed his invitation. However, the largest cruise ship on Lake Lucerne, the "Stadt Luzern", was simply overwhelmed by this number. A second ship was needed. The "Cirrus", a state-of-the-art catamaran, stepped in.

Visibly moved

Hans-Rudolf Schurter had to take the microphone a few times and give a short speech. He hurried from deck to deck and even had to change ships once.

At the end of April 2020, it was a very strange feeling to pack his things after such a long time and leave the office quietly and (almost) secretly. Hardly a soul in the building. No goodbyes, nothing.

The officially planned farewell party in April of 2020 - also on the lake - literally fell through. Larger events were already no longer permitted at that time for safety reasons due to the Corona pandemic.

Gracious weather gods

The weather forecasts did not look good for a long time. In the early afternoon of June 3, it was still pouring with rain. But the weather gods showed mercy. Just in time for the departure at 18:00, Lake Lucerne showed its most magnificent side. Steel blue sky. A great event, a worthy farewell could take its course.
